Michael Purvis started his professional photography career in 1995 with a degree in Photography from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and has emerged
as one of the most unique wedding and portrait photographers of Western Pennsylvania.
In 1997 he expanded his photography career with the University of Pittsburgh, Director of Photography and studied at the University in Business and Marketing.
Based in Pittsburgh, Purvis relocated from a small boutique studio in Shadyside on South Highland Avenue to 344 Grove Drive in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania in need of more space to house the rapidly growing business. Michael is happily married to Sommer Bennett in 2005 in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, who assist Purvis Photography.
Purvis Photography has a staff of five, each with a unique position with the company. Purvis travels frequently to International weddings that require proper business errors and omissions insurance and international work permits. Purvis photographs many of his weddings in the downtown venues in Pittsburgh and has traveled to Aruba, Hawaii, Bahamas, Cancun, Costa Rica, Florida, Dominican Republic, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina for worldwide weddings.
Over the last twelve years, Purvisphoto.com has been featured in hundreds of wedding publications including Whirl, Martha Stewart Weddings, Grace Ormond Weddings, InStyle Weddings, Modern Bride, Brides, Elegant Bride, Washingtonian Bride, Asiana Wedding Guide, Gourmet Magazine, The Knot, Perfect Wedding Guide, Post-Gazette Bridal Planner, Pittsburgh Magazine and Cavanaugh’s Wedding Planner.
